Patent oval foramen
Definition A congenital cardiovascular finding in which there is a small interatrial communication (or potential communication) confined to the region of the oval fossa (fossa ovalis) characterised by no deficiency of the primary atrial septum (septum primum) and a normal limbus with no deficiency of the septum secundum (superior interatrial fold).
