Cerebellar haemorrhage due to birth injury
Definition
Haemorrhage into the cerebellum, hemispheres or vermis, due to trauma. Occipitaloseodiastasis with breech delivery is the most common cause of this injury. Symptoms usually occur in the first 24-48 hours after delivery. There is a higher incidence of psychomotor retardation, cognitive defects and learning problems in childhood.
