Oesophageal phlegmon
Definition A spreading diffuse inflammatory process with formation of suppurative/purulent exudate or pus in the oesophageal wall. It often develops to a defined pocket of pus, oesophageal abscess. This is mainly due to the result of acute inflammation by bacterial infection.
