Definition Vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN), HPV-independent, is a non-invasive precursor of HPV-independent squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva, characterized by atypia of the basal and parabasal keratinocytes in an otherwise well-differentiated epithelium.
