Definition

Neonate, not light or small for gestational age, showing signs of fetal malnutrition, such as dry, peeling skin or loss of subcutaneous tissue.

Coding note

When both birth weight and gestational age are available, priority of assignment should be given to birth weight.

Exclusions

• fetal malnutrition with mention of: light for gestational age (KA21)
• fetal malnutrition with mention of: small for gestational age (KA20.0)
