A condition caused by infection with the gram-negative bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Escherichia coli, or the gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus or Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This condition is characterised by a focal accumulation of purulent material and neutrophils within or on the prostatic tissue, dysuria, fever, and suprapubic pain. Confirmation is by a transrectal ultrasound to identify size and location of abscess, and a urine sample to identify leukocytes.
