Tuboovarian abscess

Definition

End-stage process of acute pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), marked by pelvic mass palpable during bimanual examination. Usually bilateral but can be unilateral.

Exclusions

• Abscess of fallopian tube (4B4Z)
• Abscess of ovary (4B4Z)
