Staphylococcal scarlatina
Definition An exanthem mediated by staphylococcal toxins from distant Staphylococcus aureus infection but without the systemic complications seen in staphylococcal toxic shock syndrome, of which it may be regarded as a mild form. Clinically it resembles scarlet fever.
