Thyrotoxicosis from ectopic thyroid tissue
Definition
Thyrotoxicosis caused by ectopic thyroid tissue, which is thyroid tissue located outside its normal anatomical position. Ectopic thyroid tissue can, in some instances, become hyperfunctional and produce excessive thyroid hormone, leading to thyrotoxicosis.
